The ultimate grand-tour of Eryri
UTS 100M is a journey into the wild, rugged heart of Eryri (Snowdonia). The race begins and ends in the village of Llanberis, nestled at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest peak in Wales.
From here, participants will ascend through stunning landscapes, traversing technical trails and exposed mountain ridges. The route takes you deep into Eryri National Park, a land of mythical beauty. You will encounter the epic, jagged peaks of Eryri's highest mountains, descend into scenic valleys carved by ancient glaciers, and pass tranquil lakes like Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Idwal. Runners will navigate a diverse and challenging terrain, from rocky scree fields and boulder-strewn paths to boggy moorland, all set against a backdrop of breathtaking, untamed scenery and features of the historic slate industry.
This is a race that promises not just a physical challenge, but a complete immersion in a landscape that is both beautiful beyond belief and savage beyond reason.
Each participant must carry with them all the items listed in the mandatory kit checklist and take all the clothing and equipment with them during the race.
There will be randomised checks at the start line. A penalty up to disqualification will be applied to participants who do not have any of the individual mandatory kit items with them when inspected.
Due to the long duration of the event, participants should ensure their electronic devices last throughout by planning for sufficient battery life, such as using charge-on-the-go options or carrying spare batteries.
Aid stations are available at strategic locations and regular intervals along the course. These provide basic food and drink options and shelter from the elements.
Larger aid stations will be well stocked with hot food options, hot drinks and a selection of other snacks including cold drinks, water, cola and Näak Energy products.
There are toilet facilities at all locations (including women's toilets and toilets with period products). Most larger aid stations are located in existing buildings or marquees, are warm, and will have seating and rest areas.
Villages which the route passes through include:
- Capel Curig
- Dolwyddelan
- Blaenau Ffestiniog
- Croesor
- Beddgelert
- Rhyd Ddu
- Betws Garmon
UTS 100M is a semi-autonomous / self-sufficient event with aid stations and medical cover at strategic locations on the course. However, due to the extent of the course we strongly advise you to have your own support crew. Your support crew will be able to provide you with personal assistance at designated locations. Due to the remote nature of some aid stations, and the lack of easily accessible car parking, we have to be very selective of which locations we can allow personal assistance.
We strongly advise you to have a supporter to drive you home after the event. Due to the fatigue of completing Ultra-Trail Snowdonia by UTMB, runners should not attempt to drive themselves home.
